Missing Duluth man found dead in Pokegama River

SUPERIOR, Wisconsin – The body of a missing Duluth man was found in the Pokegama River in the village of Superior Monday afternoon.

Ryan Lahti, 43, was last seen on June 8, when he fled into the woods following a traffic stop by Douglas County Sheriff’s officers.

Authorities conducted an extensive search using sniffer dogs, drones and thermal imaging cameras, but were unable to locate Lahti at the time of the incident.

On June 14, Lahti was reported missing by his family after they had not heard from him for several days.

Lahti’s body was found partially submerged in the Pokegama River west of Oakes Avenue and east of Cemetery Road.

The WI DNR, Superior Fire Department and Duluth Police Department assisted in this investigation.

The cause of Lahti’s death is pending the results of the autopsy.
