Lafayette County man arrested for sexual assault

The court set bail for the suspect at $40,000.

LAFAYETTE COUNTY, Mississippi (WCBI) – A man was arrested in Lafayette County on sexual assault charges.

On May 22, MPs received a complaint and investigators were called to investigate the alleged incident.

Investigators were able to establish sufficient suspicion to issue an arrest warrant against 27-year-old Elijah Joseph Wells from Oxford.

After the warrant was issued, the suspect was arrested without incident at his home and taken to the Lafayette County Detention Center.

This is an ongoing investigation.

The court set bail for the suspect at $40,000.
