Serial exhibitionist from Indianapolis, who was charged with causing a public nuisance, was arrested 47 times

INDIANAPOLIS – A notorious exhibitionist has been in jail since Wednesday evening for allegedly exposing himself to a mother and her children on the east side of the island.

According to police, the suspect has been arrested several times this month for causing a public nuisance.

“We were hanging out outside and just enjoying the beautiful day,” said Jamesha Bell. “I didn’t think they would see a penis.”

But that’s exactly what Bell said she and her six children saw last Thursday, May 23.

Bell said it all happened as she and her children were standing outside their home near the corner of New York and Dequincy streets when a man, later identified as 26-year-old Cameron Greenwood, pulled down his pants and touched his genitals in front of Bell and her young children.

“I was about to freak out,” she said. “I followed him from there on foot to Washington and Dequincy. I don’t know why I didn’t get in my car. It was just an instinct to just grab him.”

Eventually, Greenwood was arrested by police. According to an affidavit, Greenwood exposed himself at least four times that same day.

The alleged exposure occurred once while he was walking down 10th Street, another time when he touched his genitals in the McDonald’s drive-thru, once when he exposed himself to employees at a Dairy Queen, and another time when he stood naked on the corner next to a gas station.

“He has quite a history,” said IMPD Lt. Shane Foley. “Our officers respond to manhunts and do what they can to make arrests. In this case, we have a man accused of exposing himself to children. The officers involved were grateful for the public’s help.”

Investigators say they were only able to arrest Greenwood on a felony charge this time because he had previously been convicted of a similar offense. And Greenwood has many such offenses.

Since 2019, Greenwood has been arrested at least 47 times for crimes ranging from trespassing to assault, according to court records. During that same period, Greenwood has been arrested at least nine times for nudity, exposure or causing a public nuisance.

Most of the charges against him were dropped or plea bargained.
