Downtown Storm Recovery Update for Memorial Day

HOUSTON (CW39) – Storm repair crews are ramping up efforts to replace and stabilize windows on downtown high-rises over Memorial Day weekend. Additional road closures are highlighted on the map and listed below.

Pedestrians are still strongly advised to avoid areas where sidewalks and streets are closed to avoid the risk of falling glass, primarily south of McKinney and west of Main Street. Please expect detours when traveling to the city center.

Road closures include:

–Smith from Clay to Pease

– Andrews from Smith to Shaw

– Shaw to Ruthven

– Smith’s Bell at Milam

– Louisiana from Pease to Clay, and from Polk to McKinney

– Dallas from Smith to Milam

– Lamar from Milam to Smith

– McKinney from Smith to Main Street

– Milam from Walker to Lamar

– Travis from Lamar to Walker and from Franklin to Commerce

METRO Park & ​​Ride bus service to downtown will resume Tuesday, following the Memorial Day holiday.
