Flights from Newark to Houston delayed or canceled as Hurricane Beryl makes landfall in Texas

Hurricane Beryl made landfall in Texas this morning, battering the coast with winds reaching 80 miles per hour.

Due to Beryl’s accident, flights to and from Houston are being delayed and canceled across the board. Of the 24 flights canceled at Newark Liberty International Airport, 10 were from Houston and seven were to Houston.

Remnants of Hurricane Beryl Could Bring Rain, Flooding to Parts of New Jersey

Mike Rizzo, a meteorologist with News 12’s storm watch team, said Beryl’s energy will remain mostly in northwest New Jersey, but some of it will pass through Wednesday night into Thursday, dousing areas in the northwest part of the state with a few inches of rain and the potential for flooding.

Hurricane Beryl made landfall near Corpus Christi, south of Houston. The winds, storm surge and flooding caused by Beryl have killed at least nine people in the Caribbean.

The Category 1 storm is the first Atlantic hurricane to make landfall in the United States this year, and is the earliest major Atlantic hurricane in nearly 60 years.
