2 dead, 19 injured in shooting at street festival in Detroit: Police | 1340 KGFW

(DETROIT) — At least two people were killed and 19 others injured when gunfire erupted during a street festival in Detroit early Sunday morning, police said.

The shooting occurred about 2:25 a.m. during a street festival on the city’s east side near Wish Egan Field in the Mohican Regent neighborhood, police said.

Michigan State Police confirmed to X that the shooting left two people dead and 19 others injured.

State police officials said they were assisting Detroit police in the investigation through their joint homicide task force.

According to police, no suspects were arrested on Sunday afternoon.

Details of the shooting, including the motive, were not immediately released by authorities.

Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to call Crime Stoppers or contact Detroit police.
