USA TODAY gives the Buffalo Bills a below-average rating

The Buffalo Bills missed the boat a bit for our friends at USA TODAY.

After the 2024 NFL Draft, USA TODAY gave the Bills an average grade of “B” for the team’s run. Keon Coleman highlights class.

Coleman was Buffalo’s first pick in the second round. The Bills came from behind twice and completely eliminated from the first round.

Although USA TODAY does not appear to disagree with the decision, there have been some comments made against it. The preferred deal would have been to go the other way to select a slightly more polarizing perspective.

Overall, each team’s scores were noted side by side. Buffalo’s was 19th overall, just in the below-average range.

USA TODAY’s Nate Davis’ breakdown can be found below:

A team with a clear need at receiver following the Diggs trade and the departure of Gabe Davis took some heat Thursday for dropping out of the first round rather than aggressively targeting a replacement. Yet in a deep draft, general manager Brandon Beane did very well, putting Florida State’s Keon Coleman, arguably a first-round talent, at the top of the second round — and even though he’s not a blazer, he is quite fast, the catches are contested. balls and will provide QB Josh Allen with a big target. Win, especially with a bonus of extra picks for a team exhausted by salary cap calculations. Second-round S Cole Bishop is unlikely to overshadow Jordan Poyer or Micah Hyde. Third-round DT DeWayne Carter should make an impact in the pass rush and could quickly emerge as a new defensive leader. And while the signing of undrafted free agent RB Frank Gore Jr. will grab the headlines, fourth-rounder Ray Davis (Kentucky) could be the one to make hay while easing the load on James Cook.
