Ryan Garcia arrested for vandalism at a Beverly Hills hotel

Boxer Ryan Garcia was arrested on vandalism charges in Beverly Hills on Saturday after a hotel accused Garcia of property damage, Beverly Hills police said Sunday.

According to BHPD Lt. Andrew Myers, police responded to a 911 call about an “intoxicated individual” at the Waldorf Astoria in Beverly Hills around 5:15 p.m.

“During the investigation, the intoxicated individual was identified as Ryan Garcia,” Myers said in a statement. “After obtaining statements from hotel management, it was determined that Mr. Garcia was a registered guest of the hotel and had caused damage to a guest room and the hotel hallway.”

After the arrest, the Beverly Hills Fire Department took Garcia to a local hospital for medical treatment, police said.

Garcia’s attorney Darin Chavez told ESPN that the 25-year-old boxer may also face public intoxication charges.

Chavez said in a statement to ESPN that the arrest came “at an extremely difficult time for Ryan as he grapples with devastating news about his mother’s health.”

“Ryan has spoken openly about his mental health struggles over the years and is currently battling tremendous emotional distress,” Chavez said in the statement to ESPN. “The support and understanding of fans and the public is critical as he navigates these personal challenges.”

Garcia shocked the boxing world in April when he defeated WBC super lightweight champion Devin Haney by majority decision. However, his stunning victory was later marred by news that he tested positive for the performance-enhancing substance Ostarine the day before the fight, according to a letter from the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association obtained by ESPN. News of the positive test was first shared by journalist Dan Rafael, who also reported that Garcia’s pre-fight sample tested positive for 19-norandrosterone.

In the months leading up to the Haney fight, Garcia claimed he was abducted by the Illuminati, accused Logan Paul of Satan worship, made allegations against Haney’s father, said he was subjected to a spiritual attack, said he had proof of the existence of aliens, and called Elon Musk the Antichrist – among numerous other disturbing claims and allegations online and in podcast appearances.

Garcia also announced the birth of his second child and his divorce from his wife on the same day in January. In March, Garcia accused Haney of using banned substances, said he would bite Haney’s ears off, and later tweeted“My intention is to kill Devil Haney.”
