Police investigate murder after body left on I-5

Oregon State Police said the body was believed to have been hit by a car, but a medical examination determined the person was a homicide victim.

WILSONVILLE, Oregon – Oregon State Police are investigating a homicide after a man’s body was found on the side of Interstate 5 near Wilsonville early Wednesday morning.

The body was found on the right shoulder of the southbound side of the highway near exit 282 for the community of Charbonneau. The body was first reported to police around 5:45 a.m. and was described as possibly having been struck by a vehicle, according to an Oregon State Police news release.

Officers arrived at the scene and identified the deceased as 42-year-old Oscar Lizardo Chaidez of Salem. Subsequent investigations by state police and the Clackamas County Coroner led police to conclude that the man was the victim of a homicide, the OSP news release said.

The OSP press release did not provide any further information about the circumstances of the death or whether police still believe the victim was hit by a car.
