DOE employee arrested for hitting 2-year-old boy’s head against table at Bronx preschool

A Department of Education child care worker is behind bars after police said the employee allegedly pushed a 2-year-old boy’s head against a table at a preschool.

Police said they were called to Little Stars Preschools on Edson Avenue in the Bronx just before noon Monday.

Authorities arrested 49-year-old Savitree Nerine while she was on duty. She is accused of endangering the welfare of a child.

The DOE said in a statement that “the alleged behavior is extremely concerning” and that “they are in communication with the contracted early childhood education program about any necessary next steps.”
