Police continue investigation after fatal bicycle-car accident – ​​The Morning Sun

Mt Pleasant police are continuing to investigate Wednesday night’s crash that killed a cyclist at the corner of West High Street and South Henry Street.

William Alexander, 67, of Mt. Pleasant died after the bicycle he was riding was struck by a car driven by a 57-year-old Mt. Pleasant woman, whom police are not naming.

Officers were called to the scene at 6:13 p.m. and found that Alexander had died after being struck by the westbound vehicle.

Mt Pleasant Police Public Relations Officer David Coffman said toxicology reports for both Alexander and the driver of the car were pending and that there was no reason to believe the driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs has.

The driver of the car was not injured.

The investigation is ongoing and police are asking anyone with information to call the anonymous tip line at 989-779-9111 or Isabella County dispatch at 989-773-1000.

State Police from the Mt. Pleasant post, a mobile ambulance, Isabella County Central Dispatch, the Isabella County Sheriff’s Office, the Mt. Pleasant Fire Department and the Isabella County Medical Examiner’s Office assisted at the scene.
