University residents, city officials upset with Buffalo convenience store they say sells cannabis illegally

BUFFALO, N.Y. — If you ask Buffalo Common Council member Rasheed Wyatt about convenience stores, he’ll tell you about a drastic improvement. He meets with all business owners who need a permit to operate.

However, there is one business in his neighborhood that is raising eyebrows among residents and city officials.

Wyatt said The Leaf On Bailey, located at Bailey and Rounds Avenue in the University District, would sell cannabis without a license.

Wyatt questioned the worker about selling marijuana. The worker denied it. However, residents disagreed as one of them went in and purchased marijuana.

According to Wyatt and the City of Buffalo Commissioner of Licensing and Inspection Services, the business does not have a license to sell cannabis.

An inspector issued a cease and desist order, and Wyatt said the person “ripped him up.”

The city councilman wants the business to close or obtain the appropriate license to operate a cannabis establishment.

“This whole cannabis thing, enforcement and that sort of thing, we don’t really have a good handle on that right now and that’s what concerns me about this whole process,” said Wyatt.

Before leaving the store, Wyatt told the worker “we’re going to make sure we’re in court, we’ll talk with the police department and permits and inspections to make sure you’re shut down immediately because you’re not following the rules”. community, if you want to open up and sell cannabis, go get a license and do it the right way, but to come to this community and act like you could pit a gorilla with a blunt and think that’s cool, This is not the case.
