Man arrested for drunk driving after speeding and snaking between lanes

A man was arrested in Lyons on May 13 for driving underwater after a Riverside officer reported he was driving at excessive speed.

According to police, the officer was near the intersection of South Harlem Avenue and Ogden Avenue when they heard several cars honking and saw the man’s car traveling west on Ogden Avenue “at a high rate of speed.” The officer drove in that direction and caught up with the vehicle near the intersection of First Avenue. As officers caught up, they saw the car repeatedly crossing the lane markings.

After stopping at the red light at the intersection, the car continued west, skirting the lane markings before reaching speeds of up to 50 mph in a 30 mph zone. At that point, the officer turned on the emergency lights and the driver stopped the car.
