BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo man pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter Monday following an attack on his ex-wife and her parents, the Erie County District Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday.

On the morning of October 24, 2021, Mohammed Mia, 41, violated a protection order by entering his estranged wife’s home in Buffalo. He then strangled her, punched her, slapped her and threatened her. When his parents tried to intervene, he threw his father to the ground and hit him several times.

The victim called 911 and his father was transported to ECMC with severe head trauma. She and her mother suffered cuts, bruises and broken teeth. His father, Mohammed Hossain, 47, died three days later.

Mia faces a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison when he is sentenced on June 26. He remains held without bail.
