Cozy end to the weekend; heat increases this week

After a cooler start to Sunday, there will be plenty of sunshine and pleasant air today and into Monday, with highs of 28 degrees and lows of 18 degrees as drier air settles in early in the week. There could be some patches of fog in some areas early on Monday, which will then clear to partly cloudy skies by mid-morning. Cloud cover will increase on Monday afternoon and evening as a few showers are possible but will remain mostly rainy.

Tuesday will see scattered showers and thunderstorms, highs will climb back into the 30s and feel slightly humid but still bearable for this time of year, while lows will be above 25 degrees. Heat and humidity will linger in the area through mid to late week, with scattered showers and thunderstorms. The mercury will continue to climb above 35 degrees and heat index readings will approach the 35s for early August. Nighttime temperatures will not cool down either, remaining above 25 degrees and feeling muggy. The coming weekend will bring a slight drop from above 35 degrees and back to above 25 degrees and the erratic rain pattern for ENC as a reminder that summer is still here to stay.
