3 Reasons Why July Will Be The Most Important Month For The Atlanta Braves

Atlanta enters July eight games behind the National League East-leading Philadelphia Phillies. That seems like a lot of ground to make up, but the Braves have done it before.

For the Braves to put themselves in position to win their seventh straight division title, July will have to be fruitful. Here are three reasons why July is so important for the Atlanta Braves.

Matt Olson and Bryson Stott

For the first time in 2024, the Phillies feel like they’ll have a tougher road ahead of them than the Atlanta Braves in the coming weeks. In addition to navigating the toughest stretch of this schedule so far, Philadelphia also has to adjust to missing Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber due to injuries.

Not only is Atlanta’s upcoming schedule slightly more favorable, but the Braves will also host Philadelphia at Truist Park this weekend for a three-game series. If Atlanta can dig into its cleaning supplies and find a broom, we could see an NL East race intensify late in the season.

Phillies’ main opponents in July (all 3 game series): Braves, Dodgers, Twins, Guardians and Yankees

Notable opponents at .500 or below that the Braves will face in July: Giants (3-game series), Diamondbacks (3-game series), Reds (3-game series) and Mets (4-game series)
