Houston mayor gets cheeky in Texas judge’s social media comments section

Lina Hidalgo is a judge in Harris County, Texas, and a promising figure in Democratic politics. She is also engaged to civil rights attorney David James. As with many millennials, Hidalgo’s engagement creates many Instagrammable moments, like her bridal shower.

Hidalgo’s IG post showed off her pink and white colors and a darling theme for the tea party. But this is a politician’s social media post – not everyone is going to keep the comments light and positive. Yet one comment – ​​or more precisely one commenter – gets a lot of attention.

Fellow Democrat, Houston Mayor John Whitmire, attempted…something in the post’s comments, noting that David “really looks like a nerd.” Now, maybe he didn’t mean “nerd” as a dig – a lot of people are nerdy and proud of it! But Whitmire deleted the comment pretty quickly.

Luckily for us curious folk, reporter Scott Braddock obtained a screenshot of the exchange before it happened.

That blue checkmark means Whitmire’s comments will always get attention. So perhaps a little more thought before posting is warranted.
