Buffalo police apprehend suspect after vehicle theft incident

BUFFALO, NY— The Buffalo Police Department made an arrest Wednesday evening following a dramatic incident involving a stolen vehicle on Donovan Drive. The suspect, identified as Theophine Lubala, 18, of Cassadaga, New York, was charged with multiple offenses after crashing into two police vehicles and fleeing the scene.

The incident occurred around 7:45 p.m. when police attempted to stop the stolen vehicle. Lubala allegedly reversed into a police vehicle, drove into another, then fled, forcing a police officer to jump to avoid being struck. The Erie County Sheriff’s Air I followed the vehicle as it fled, ultimately leading to the stop and pursuit of Lubala before his capture in the 400 block of Cambridge Avenue .

Lubala faces several charges, including two counts of third-degree criminal mischief, one count of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and one count of second-degree reckless endangerment – ​​all felonies. Additional misdemeanor charges include unauthorized use of a vehicle, operation of a motor vehicle by an unlicensed driver, and leaving the scene of an accident.

  • Arrest made in Woodbridge armed robbery case

    WOODBRIDGE, Virginia—Local authorities reported the arrest of a suspect in connection with an armed robbery that occurred June 16 in the 1430 block of Jeffries Road. The suspect, identified as Makubani Sun Reel, 44, of no fixed address, was arrested on June 20.

    Reel, previously wanted by police following the incident, is charged with robbery and is currently being held without bail, awaiting his court date. The initial robbery involved a 37-year-old man who was forcibly restrained by a group of men and had his Cash App card stolen. Fortunately, the victim did not suffer any injuries.

    The arrest follows police efforts to track down Reel after he was identified on June 19 as one of the suspects involved. The investigation continues as authorities seek to identify and apprehend the other individuals involved in the theft.

The winning numbers in this drawing were 9, 15, 17, 18 and 37, with a bonus ball of 4. This is the 19th top prize Match 5 bonus ticket sold in 2024 and the second in two consecutive nights.

    Retailers also benefit, with the Frederick County store receiving a $1,000 bonus and the Kent County store receiving a $500 bonus for selling winning tickets.

  • Stafford County Police Blotter: Here’s What’s Happening

    STAFFORD COUNTY, VA – The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office reported several key incidents in its June 21 daily summary.

    During a theft incident at Sheetz on Garrisonville Road, two men attempted to take items without payment on the evening of June 20. Deputies TG Croson and SA Edwards responded to the scene, identified and issued summonses to the suspects at a local residence.

    Two separate cases of public drunkenness were reported. The first occurred early on June 20 at Wawa on South Gateway Drive, where Deputies JA Martin and IE Baldi apprehended a man after he admitted to drinking alcohol. Another intoxicated man was encountered by Deputy DS Jett on Cambridge Street, displaying erratic behavior and smelling of alcohol. Both suspects were held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail until they sobered up.

    A potential crush incident was investigated June 20 at Madison Court. Police were called to a reported disturbance involving a weapon, but found no evidence of a problem after speaking with neighbors.

    Another notable occurrence involved Deputy BW Gildea, who served a warrant at Wawa on Garrisonville Road. The suspect attempted to deceive the deputy with a false identity, but was ultimately arrested for false identification and identity theft, as well as serving his outstanding arrest warrant. He was held without bail at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
