Jeremiah Savard accused of sexual assault in camp

A 21-year-old man has been charged with sexual assault in connection with incidents at two homeless camps in Edmonton. Police believe there may be more victims.

On Monday, Jeremiah Savard was arrested and charged with five felonies in connection with a sexual assault that occurred earlier that day at an encampment in the area between 103rd Street and 98th Avenue.

Savard is said to have attacked a teenager in his tent at knifepoint.

According to police, the teenager was not a resident of the camp.

Savard is accused of sexual abuse with a weapon, aggravated sexual assault, solicitation of sexual contact, false imprisonment and escape from custody.

According to police, his DNA profile was also recently linked to the sexual assault of a woman on November 17, 2023, at an encampment on the corner of 111 Avenue and 82 Street.

In connection with this attack, he was charged with sexual assault and aggravated sexual assault.

Savard remains in custody. His court date is scheduled for June 17.
