Car number: Supreme Court dismisses man’s claim for compensation after accident due to wrong car number | Bengaluru News

Bengaluru: Citing a letter from the accident doctor of KC General Hospital, Bengaluru to Malleswaram traffic police, the Supreme Court has dismissed a claim for compensation in an accident case. According to D. Jayaramu of Maddur in Mandya district, on June 26, 2009, he was walking on the stretch opposite the pedestrian underpass of Sheshadri Road when a car negligently hit him. He claimed that he sustained injuries and was taken to KC General Hospital. He filed a claim for compensation, but it was rejected by the Motor Accident Claims Tribunal, Bengaluru in January 2014. He then approached the Supreme Court.“Complaint submitted late”Justice Jyoti Mulimani observed that the suit was filed a day after the accident. “On behalf of the plaintiff, an attempt is being made to claim that he was injured due to negligent driving of the car bearing registration number KA-06-M-4479. However, the accident register issued by the hospital shows that the victim was hit by a car bearing registration number KA-02-2249 (official car of KPTCL) at KR Circle and was conscious and oriented,” the judge observed. “The registration number of the car is different. Therefore, there is doubt about the authenticity of the suit. The court has rightly dismissed the suit. I see no grounds to challenge the judgment of the court,” the judge added.
