Summer 2024: when to fly

Those planning to travel to the United States this summer may notice an increase in the cost of flights in mid-June, during peak tourist season. According to Kayak, domestic flights will slowly decrease over the remainder of the summer, through July and August. If you haven’t booked yet, early June will be your best bet. Wondering how to save?

Here are some travel tips:

  • Remember to buy your plane ticket 28 days before departure

  • Budget higher than expected

  • Check out credit card travel benefits and offers

  • Compare prices between hotels and nights

Closed on weekends

As many of us prepare for summer travel, the Texas Department of Transportation will continue to work hard on Houston’s roads. This weekend, crews will close eastbound I-10 lanes at Mercury Drive to repair the asphalt. The work will begin on Sunday at 9 p.m. and continue until Monday at 5 a.m. Keep in mind that law enforcement will be on site to help direct traffic. Those traveling from the east side should consider alternate routes.

Stay cool and have a great weekend!
