One dead and dozens rescued in Galveston currents

Galveston officials say one person was killed and dozens more were rescued from dangerous rip currents in Galveston.

A television report said rescuers performed CPR on one of the rescuers, who later died at the hospital.

Authorities confirmed the man was from Louisiana.

A red flag is displayed on the beaches, signifying the presence of strong wind and strong current or large waves.

Unlike Houston’s city pools, Galveston’s lifeguard stations are fully staffed.
