WNY Community Speaks Out on Biden’s Withdrawal from Election

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — President Joe Biden announced he will not seek a second term as president of the United States, posting a letter on social media Sunday afternoon saying he would “step aside and focus solely on fulfilling my duties as president.”

Western New York neighbors share their opinions with 7 News:

“I think we all saw it coming. I think it’s a good thing for him to go because he’s getting older. I think I’m really excited and waiting to see who’s next.” Tyrone Woods from Buffalo said. “There will be a lot of new ideas and we need them. I think the old way of doing things is over with him.”

Ron Goodwin

“I think it’s better for our country, we definitely need another option. Biden seems like a good guy, but for our country we need someone who can do more,” Ron Goodwin of North Tonawanda said.

Ike Thompson

WKBW

“We need someone young. I know on the internet, Biden is referred to as an older man, or a senior citizen, but really, it depends on us, the people, who we vote for,” Ike Thompson Cambria said.

“I thought (Biden) was going to keep fighting” Trason Hill from Buffalo said. “I have a feeling Trump will win, but it would be a miracle if Kamala Harris won.”

“I thought (Biden) was going to keep going until he won,” Jaila Clemons from Buffalo said. “I want to see what it would be like to have a woman president, because I feel like there’s so much we women could do.”

Maria Lange

WKBW

“I think (Biden) should have given up because he doesn’t seem to be able to hold up as far as speeches and everything else,” Maria Lange of North Tonawanda said.

“I think I could have seen this coming” Nick Poulis of Lockport said. “I think we are moving in the right direction with the younger generation as a whole. I think we have a lot of promising politicians.”

Jason Patrick

WKBW

“I just saw a mental decline over the years, and it just didn’t seem right (for Biden to run again),” Jason Patrick of North Tonawanda said.
