Suspect in horrific Bronx rape case arrested after video shows woman being lassoed from behind on a dark street

New York police have arrested a “person of interest” as part of the manhunt for a Bronx rape suspect who was caught on video attacking a woman.

Kashaan Parks was arrested at 10 a.m. Saturday and accused of attacking the 45-year-old victim around 5 a.m. on May 1 in the Bronx, the NYPD confirmed to Fox News Digital.

The NYPD released photos of the suspect on Friday and asked the public for help in finding him.

Surveillance video captured the attack and shows a man throwing a noose belt around the woman’s neck, then choking her unconscious and dragging her away on a dark city street.

In the video, the man can be seen looking up and down the block before it is cut off.

“The man then dragged the victim between two cars and sexually assaulted her,” the NYPD said in a statement.

The video, which was shared widely online on Thursday, shows the masked man sneaking up behind his victim, grabbing him with a noose belt around his throat and dragging him to the ground.

She appears to lose consciousness within seconds, her hands falling to the sides from their defensive position as he drags her between two parked cars.

The NYPD said the male suspect then fled on foot toward Melrose Avenue.

The victim was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln and is in stable condition, according to authorities.

Police said Parks, 39, had been identified and wanted in connection with the attack.

An NYPD spokesman said Parks was charged with rape, assault, strangulation, sexual abuse, public indecency and harassment. He is in the custody of Bronx Special Victims.

According to the NYPD, 511 rapes were reported in New York City as of May 5, the same total as the same period last year.
