A fifth accident on State Road 20 in Calhoun County

CALHOUN COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – The fifth accident since December occurred near State Road 20 in Calhoun County.

The most recent accident involved two cars, with one driver suffering minor injuries.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a pickup truck driven by a 31-year-old woman was traveling east on State Road 20 near NW Harry G Mcclellan Road when the driver failed to strike another stopped vehicle.

The accident report states that the driver steered her van to the left into the westbound lane.

According to the report, another driver, a 36-year-old man driving a pickup truck, was traveling westbound on the state highway.

To avoid a collision with the delivery truck, the driver of the pickup truck steered to the right.

The left front of the van collided with the left front of the pickup truck. The pickup truck overturned on the north shoulder and the van came to a stop in the westbound lane.

FHP said this is the fifth accident at this location since the two-fatal accident in December 2023.

In addition, another fatal accident occurred in the area in May 2024.
