It was a record-breaking weekend in Western New York

This weekend will go down in the record books here in Western New York.

If you thought it rained a lot on Saturday, you would be 100% right. In fact, we had a lot of rain on June 29th and a new record was set in Buffalo.

According to the National Weather Service, the Buffalo airport, where all of Western New York’s weather records are set, received 1.65 inches of rain. That nearly doubled the previous record of 0.034 set in 1897.

The good news is that despite all of this rain and severe weather, no major damage or flooding has been reported in Western New York.

As of this writing, there were no flooding concerns along western New York waterways.

The weather should be much better in the 716 heading into the July 4th holiday. We expect a mix of sun and clouds with a high near 72 for Monday.

Tuesday will be a bit warmer with a high near 80 and mostly sunny skies for the area.

Wednesday is shaping up to be another decent day with a high near 87 and a mix of sun and clouds.

For the 4th of July, it’s another warm day with a high near 82 and a mix of sun and clouds. It looks like it will be a great night to watch fireworks in Western New York.
