Two Albemarle police officers attacked in jail by DUI suspect

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Albemarle Police report that two of their officers were attacked by a DUI suspect early Tuesday morning at the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail. Police Lt. Logan Bogert reports that officers were taking 38-year-old Jasmin C. White of Charlottesville to the jail after she was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence. When officers opened the door upon arrival at the jail, White allegedly kicked one officer and struck the other in the head while he was handcuffed.

White now faces nine charges, including malicious wounding and two counts of assault on a police officer. The handcuffed officer was taken to UVA with non-life-threatening injuries, and White is being held without bail.
