Discover the best recreational activities at Buffalo Springs Lake

Buffalo Springs Lake is truly a fantastic recreation area just outside of Lubbock that offers LOTS of fun, family-friendly activities! I have lived by the lake since 2017 and I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else. I love my neighbors, the staff, the nice people at the marina and all the guests who come to visit me throughout the year.

Here are some things to do when you’re there.

Hit the trails!

You can bring a mountain bike, motorcycle, or even a full-size ATV and ride the many trails around the lake!
One small problem though…you will need this sticker. But it’s good all year round and only costs about $15.

Go fishing!

Many people don’t know this, but you can fish literally anywhere around the lake where there is a shoreline that is not part of someone’s private property. I would suggest the crappie house, dam and shallows on the slow side for small fish that the kids will love to catch!
If you’re a trophy fisherman, bring the boat and go for some world-class striper fishing. State records have been broken in Buffalo for striped bass!
Make sure you get a fishing license though!

Crystal and her team at Texas Twister Marina are truly wonderful people and I’m happy to call them friends. Crystal takes time each week to create delicious specialties to accompany the rest of her extensive menu. Last week she made fried beef short ribs with homemade potato salad and collard greens. It was one of the best meals I’ve eaten all year! The rest of the menu is great too!
If you’re not hungry, grab a cold beer or one of their specialty cocktails and sit outside at the gazebo and watch the boats while one of Lubbock’s many talented bands plays!

To take a walk!

There are great trails all over the lake. From beginner to expert, if you like hiking, you’ll love it! There’s even a Texas wildflower preserve that residents take care of and you can see along the way!

Take a ride in a golf cart or ATV and see the sights!

If you live on the lake, you MUST have a golf cart or ATV. Everyone has one because it is very easy to get around and almost all golf carts now have enough battery capacity to last all day. I use my golf cart so much that it’s on its THIRD set of tires!
You can rent golf carts and ATVs at the small window outside the marina. Or bring your own if you have one! (entrance fees apply)
