1 dead after brush fire near Dixie Highway in Pompano Beach – WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports

POMPANO BEACH, FLA. (WSVN) – A brush fire at a Pompano Beach encampment has left one person dead, officials said.

Pompano Beach Fire Department rescue units responded to reports of a large brush fire in the area of ​​Northeast 33rd Street and Fifth Avenue, near North Dixie Highway, around 11 a.m. Sunday.

According to officials, when firefighters extinguished the flames, they discovered the remains of a badly charred body. It is not yet known whether the victim was a man or a woman.

The emergency services discovered numerous camps in the forest area.

The Pompano Beach Fire Department, Florida State Fire Marshal and Broward Sheriff’s Office are investigating the cause of the fire and subsequent death.
