Arrests at St. Louis Pride Parade after disruptions by protesters

ST. LOUIS – Thousands of people lined Market Street on Sunday to watch and support St. Louis’ LBGTQ+ community.

But the start of the St. Louis Grand Pride Parade was bumpy, as protesters ended the event right after it began.

A group of anti-war and pro-Palestinian protesters formed a chain to block Market Street. They oppose Boeing’s sponsorship of the parade because the company makes bombs and munitions used by Israel.

St. Louis police claim they repeatedly asked the protesters to clear the way. When the group did not disperse, police began making arrests. They had to cut PVC pipes and chains that the protesters were holding onto each other’s arms. Eventually, the parade continued.
