Houston Dynamo FC draws 1-1 at home against FC Dallas

HOUSTON (May 18, 2024) – Houston Dynamo FC earned a 1-1 draw against rival FC Dallas in the second leg of the Texas Derby at Shell Energy Stadium this evening. The result extended Houston’s unbeaten streak against Dallas to 11 matches, dating back to August 2016.

Houston broke a scoreless tie in first-half stoppage time when captain Héctor Herrera played a ball to the defender Daniel Steres on the left side of the penalty box. Steres immediately sent the ball to the middle of the area to advance Amine Bassi, who sent the ball into the back of the net with his first touch for his first goal of the season. This play also marked Steres’ first assist of the season.

Dallas equalized in the 69th^th minute when Bernard Kamungo sent a ball to the feet of Petar Musa at the edge of the penalty area, who directed the ball into the back of the net.

Goalie Steve Clark was called into action in the second minute after a ball across the box from Jesus Ferreira found Kamungo, who hit the shot with his left foot. The veteran goalkeeper pushed the ball away with ease for his first of two saves on the night.
