The Houston Texans 2024 schedule releases today. What time does it fall and what to expect?

HOUSTON (KIAH) – With the 2024 NFL schedule being released Wednesday night, questions are being asked about what it will look like for the Houston Texans.

After a surprising 2023 season that saw the Texans win 10 games, capture the AFC South division title and earn a playoff game against Cleveland, Houston should get its share of primetime games. Especially since the Texans have core talent in AFC Offensive Rookie of the Year, quarterback CJ Stroud, as well as AFC Defensive Rookie of the Year, linebacker Will Anderson Jr .

So let’s see what the 2024 calendar could look like.

Who are the Texans playing this year?

The Texans’ opponents are already known, with home games against AFC South rivals Indianapolis, Tennessee and Jacksonville; The AFC’s foes are Miami, Buffalo and Baltimore; and NFC South teams in Chicago and Detroit.

Houston will play on the road against their AFC South rivals, as well as a big game against the defending Super Bowl champions, the Kansas City Chiefs. Other road games include New England, New York (Jets), Green Bay and Minnesota.

But the big road game will be against the Texans’ rivals, the Dallas Cowboys.

Will there be primetime games?

The Texans will face seven teams that made the playoffs last season, which should give Houston plenty of opportunities to compete in a primetime game, if not many.

A Monday Night Football game is likely for Houston since the Texans have played a few late-season games on ESPN and ABC. Games against Buffalo, Baltimore and Detroit could be prime candidates.

A Sunday night game is possible, but unlikely since NBC likes to have marquee games at that time. One game that could make the list is the game at Kansas City or the game against the Cowboys.

Could the Texans play a holiday game?

Is there a possibility for the Texans to play over the holidays? It’s possible, but unlikely.

Will the Texans play an international game?

No, not this year. The Texans played one game in England in 2022, and they are not on the list of teams that will participate in international matches this year.

What has already been released by the NFL?

The league announced that the regular season opener will feature the Chiefs hosting the Ravens on Thursday, September 5 in an AFC Championship rematch on NBC. Dallas will be in Cleveland to open the season on Sunday, September 8 on FOX, as it will be Tom Brady’s debut as a TV analyst.

The first Monday Night Football game of the season is September 9, when the Jets take on the San Francisco 49ers in Santa Clara.

A few Week 2 matchups have also been released, with the Bills and Dolphins playing Thursday night on Amazon Prime, while Cincinnati heads to Kansas City as the main game late Sunday afternoon at 3:25 p.m. Central on CBS .

How can I see the NFL schedule going down?

The schedule announcement will air on NFL Network at 7 p.m. Wednesday evening. The Texans will reveal their schedule via their social networks at the same time.
