Buffalo Springs Lake Hosts Annual Fireworks Show

Buffalo Springs Lake Hosts Annual Fireworks Show

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – If you feel like you missed a fireworks show, you’re in luck. Buffalo Springs Lake is putting on its own spectacular show Saturday night.

“It’s a day to get out with your family, be on the lake and see an incredible fireworks display,” said Shayna Scott, marketing director for Buffalo Springs Lake.

The show, which has been in preparation for a year, promises to be more grandiose than in previous years.

“Last year our show was 21 to 23 minutes long, this year we’re planning on it being 25 to 30 minutes long,” Scott said.

In addition to being longer, Scott says the finale and shells will be bigger and better. But that’s not all.

“The canyon has natural acoustics and when you hear those fireworks and the sound bounces off the water, off the canyon, there’s no show like it. It’s one of a kind and it’s incredible. It’s the best show you’ll ever see,” Scott said.

With The 4th on Broadway canceled, Scott expects more people to come to the canyon this year.

She suggests arriving early to ensure you get a good spot. The best views will be in the lower canyon or in the southeast corner of the lake, beyond the dam.

“People are going to congregate in this lake and they’re probably going to start coming here. We already have them here. They started coming yesterday,” Scott said.

If you plan to go, remember that the lake prohibits personal fireworks and glass bottles.

You will also see more police officers, to make sure everyone follows the rules.

“We have our police, we have Lubbock County helping us with our patrol, they’re here to help us, so we’ll have plenty of officers to keep everyone safe,” Scott said.

Finally, the organizers ask that you clean up after yourself so that everyone can have a fun, clean and safe time.

“Our staff works very hard, you know, during this season when we get to this point, our staff works hard to clean the lake, make sure it’s perfect for everybody, and so when people are here, we ask that you clean up after yourself,” Scott said.

The fireworks start at 10:00 p.m.

Ticket pre-sale is now closed. You can check the entry prices here.
