Ludhiana: Car driver kidnaps and rapes 7-year-old; detained

A motorist allegedly kidnapped a seven-year-old girl who was sleeping with her mother on the roof of a labour quarters and raped her after taking her to his rented accommodation at Grain Market on Gill Road on Thursday night, officials said.

The accused, 45-year-old Pramod Kumar, was arrested on Friday.

The defendant hit the minor while she was crying.

The frightened girl did not tell anyone about the incident and went back to sleep with her mother. The minor’s mother found her bleeding and rushed her to a doctor who confirmed the sexual assault. The woman then approached the police and a First Instance Report (FIR) was registered at the Shimlapuri police station.

The plaintiff stated that she slept on the roof with her daughter on Thursday night. When she woke up, she found her daughter was bleeding and not wearing any underwear, she said in the complaint.

When questioned, the girl said that Pramod Kumar took her to his room at night while she was sleeping and raped her. When she was crying in pain, the accused beat her and threatened to kill her. After raping her, the accused fled after throwing her back on the roof.

The plaintiff added that she had rushed to the doctor with her daughter and filed a report with the police.

Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Rajinder Kumar, who is investigating the case, said police have filed an FIR under Section 376AB of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The defendant has two children himself.
