Houston Texans dominate Kansas City Chiefs in this preseason prediction

We’re on the Houston Texans hype train. They were already one of the best teams in the NFL heading into the offseason and they found a way to improve. The team only lost one guy they didn’t account for in free agency or the draft, and that’s Blake Cashman. For all the other names that have left this offseason, the Texans have found an upgrade or have a player who is on par with them.

Then they added names like Danielle Hunter and Stefon Diggs. These two All-Pros, coupled with the budding superstars of CJ Stroud and Will Anderson, could see the Texans take a huge leap in productivity. More wins are expected, which could put them in the top four of the AFC standings. In addition to securing the AFC South much faster than in 2023.

All of this makes us think of a deep postseason series. The Texans managed to get out of the first round of the playoffs last year, soundly beating the Cleveland Browns, but the team has higher aspirations than another second-round exit. We think they’re capable of competing with the AFC’s Baltimore Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs, and we’re not the only ones. Our sister site, NFL Spin Zone, has a lot of faith in the Texans.

They predict the Texans will take a big step forward in 2024, going from 9-8 to 13-4, and the AFC’s number one seed will come into the playoffs. This would give them the edge over the Chiefs and Ravens, as well as home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs.

However, it doesn’t stop there, as the Texans are expected to not only reach their first-ever Super Bowl against the Detroit Lions, but also win the event. That’s a huge prediction, but one we’re not entirely against. Young quarterbacks are the key to success in the NFL right now and the Texans have the best young quarterback in the league. So if past trends continue, we could easily see Stroud take the Texans to their first Super Bowl appearance and win.

Now, do we think the Texans will finish better than the Chiefs? Everything depends. Although Patrick Mahomes is the best quarterback in the league, some of his key players are aging badly. Travis Kelce looks like he’s lost a step and it’s only a matter of time before Chris Jones regresses.
