Buffalo Bills demise considered ‘exaggerated scenario’

At least someone says so.

Between national talking heads and self-proclaimed pundits, many skeptics are publicly predicting the demise of the Buffalo Bills.

From Fox Sports commentator Emmanuel Acho idiotically proclaiming that the Bills’ “Super Bowl window” is closed (who even knew such windows existed?) to Pro Football Focus analyst Trevor Sikkema projecting that Buffalo would finish behind Miami and New York in the AFC East standings, the wild and hot takes seem to know no bounds.

All of this makes Eric Edholm’s opinion even more refreshing. A rational approach based on facts and past performance isn’t too much to ask, is it? Fortunately, the NFL Media-affiliated writer delivered on his promises.

Edholm included the Bills’ “offseason unloading of veterans” as one of five “exaggerated scenarios.” The Houston Texans’ Super Bowl aspirations are also considered exaggerated.

From Five over-the-top storylines from the NFL offseason:

“It was easy to fire the Bills this offseason. They are down – again – after having to cut significant salary sums that arguably made four positions worse. … But to me, what is actually a more exaggerated story than it should be the presence of Allen He’s the obvious meal ticket, and it’s possible there’s an addition by subtraction quotient at play here that’s being overlooked… I buy it. making light of Bills’ stocks going down There may be some losses along the way, but I’m starting to think this team can get back on the mountain sooner than some think.

Despite losing several grizzled veterans, Buffalo returns eight starters on offense and eight more on defense with Allen as its centerpiece. If Allen stays healthy, the Bills will have a Top 3 producer at the most important position in sports.

Although the team has seen significant turnover at safety and secondary depth may become an issue, Buffalo returns all three starting cornerbacks – Christian Benford, Rasul Douglas and Nickel Taron Johnson. Meanwhile, former first-round pick Kaiir Elam, who has been a somewhat forgotten asset, raised his stock during OTAs.

In terms of starters, the Bills’ roster is as strong as any of the other 31 teams in the NFL. There’s a reason they’ve won the AFC East each of the last four years and the sports books list them as slight favorites to make it five in a row. Predictions of their demise are very premature.
