Israeli mixed martial arts fighter Shimon Smotritsky returns to Houston on June 16 to fight in a Fury FC event at Imagen Venues, 11903 Eastex Fwy.

Smotritsky, 23, with a 10-2 record, faces Aaron Phillips in a fight that is a title shot and will determine the No. 1 contender for the welterweight division.

Fury’s champions are known to have been signed by the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship), so Smotritsky’s next fight will be a big win.

“I’m very excited for this fight. This will bring me one step closer to the UFC,” Smotritsky said after the announcement.

Last August in Houston, Smotritsky scored a big win against Keenan Jackson at the Fury FC 82 event at Imagen Venues.

The Israeli assassin, as he is commonly known, received great support from the Houston Jewish community who engaged in the fight.
