Houston Restaurant Weeks Celebrates  Million and 21 Years of Dining Out and Doing Good

Houston’s most anticipated dining event will be celebrating its 21st year, Houston Restaurant Weeks (HRW), beginning August 1st and continuing through Labor Day, September 2nd. That’s 33 days of delicious meals and great deals raising much-needed funds for the Houston Food Bank. Houston Restaurant Weeks (HRW) was established in 2003 by the late media personality Cleverley Stone and has grown to become the largest Restaurant Weeks fundraiser in the United States. Benefiting the Houston Food Bank, the event raised more than $21 million. dollars since its inception, which has provided more than 60 million meals to food-insecure Houstonians. Today, his daughter Katie Stone, president of the Cleverley Stone Foundation, continues the mission in his honor.

Originally created to help strengthen Houston’s restaurant industry in August, which is historically the slowest month of the year for restaurants nationwide, August in Houston is now the most profitable month in the country. year for most industry participants and suppliers. It is expected that around 400 restaurants will be on board in 2024, offering prix fixe brunches, lunches and dinners with built-in giveaways, giving customers a “bargain” and helping diners discover new cuisines and new favorites! Restaurants from Galleria, Inner Loop, West Houston, East End, Midtown, Downtown, Sugar Land to Galveston and The Woodlands will participate.

“Houston Restaurant Weeks has become a staple in Houston that we all look forward to every August,” said Brian Greene, president and CEO of the Houston Food Bank. “We are extremely grateful to Katie Stone and the Cleverley Stone Foundation for allowing us to stay involved and continue the Cleverley legacy. The timing is perfect as these funds will be used to ensure fresh produce and healthy foods for our neighbors to enjoy throughout the fall.

HRW is being continued by her daughter Katie Stone in memory of her mother, who died in 2020 after a long battle with cancer. Stone’s wish was that HRW would continue in perpetuity in his name. In 2020, Katie Stone established the Cleverley Stone Foundation, which exists to continue her mission and legacy of supporting Houstonians in need by producing HRW and sister event Eat Drink HTX.

Beginning July 15, diners can visit www.houstonrestaurantweeks.com to view a list of restaurants that have committed to participate, along with their HRW 2024 menus. Menus from participating restaurants will be added to the website through August 1 .
