How criminals use AI as a weapon to target young girls

The parents of a Class 9 student of an elite CBSE school in Bengaluru have filed a complaint with the police’s cyber wing, alleging that nude pictures of their daughter created by artificial intelligence (AI) have gone viral on social media. Another student in the same class also had her photos doctored, but her parents have not yet filed a complaint. The school, which is closed for summer vacation, has said an internal investigation is being conducted.

AI-altered nude photos of two Bengaluru schoolgirls go viral

The viral nude photos of the girl whose parents filed a complaint were altered by linking her face to one of her private Instagram photos and sharing the numbers using a fake ID.

According to police, the girls’ parents believe the perpetrator is someone they know. Students on the illegal school’s Instagram account even questioned the perpetrator. However, the perpetrator went offline and did not share any more pictures after that. The cyber cell is currently trying to find the Instagram ID through which the photos were posted. However, no complaint has been filed by the other girl whose nude pictures went viral.

This reflects the grim reality of the online world, which is advancing both in terms of its development and criminal behavior. Just a few days ago, we came across another case where AI was used as a tool to commit crimes.

Man uses voice-changing app to pretend to be professor and rapes seven girls

On May 25, a 30-year-old man from Madhya Pradesh was arrested for raping at least seven girls in a college. Brajesh Prajapati from Sidhi district posed as a professor and used a voice-changing app to sound like a professor. He called his victims and talked to them about scholarship funds.

He posed as a professor at a Tikari institution and convinced the girls that they would receive a scholarship. He then summoned the girls to his house and said his son would pick them up.

After raping the girls, Prajapati snatched their mobile phones. According to one of the complainants, Prajapati sometimes came on a bicycle wearing gloves and helmets to pick up the girls and take them to a deserted place to rape them.

According to authorities, Prajapati may have raped more than seven girls, most of them tribal girls.

He was accompanied by three others, Lavkush Prajapati, Rahul Prajapati and Sandeep Prajapati, all of whom were arrested. Police recovered sixteen mobile phones. One of the perpetrators was a college student who had obtained the phone numbers of women from a WhatsApp group on campus.
