Did Atlanta’s Rod and Leticia Gardner win ‘The Amazing Race’?

Rod, a former NFL player, told host Phil Keoghan that the key to their success as a married couple was forgiving and apologizing. Leticia said she led by example and hopes their three children are proud.

This race “taught us not to give up,” Rod said after the race ended.

“It was our hardest stage, but we had the most fun,” said Leticia, who maintained an upbeat attitude throughout most of the race. “We have come a long way since the first leg. We put pride aside and fought every step of the way.

Starting the final episode in the Dominican Republic with four teams remaining, they managed to manage a detour creating drinks without any problems. For the Roadblock, Leticia learned to windsurf relatively quickly. As a result, they came to the pit stop in first place, their third first place finish of the season.

Amber Craven and Vinny Cagungun, the feuding couple who never came first in any stage, were eliminated.

The last three teams flew to Philadelphia, the last stop of the race. The first Roadblock featured Leticia dressed in a mascot outfit and performing an obstacle course. At this point, Ricky and Cesar take the lead. During the next challenge, each team must recite part of the preamble. Ricky and Cesar got through it faster than Rod and Leticia while Rod struggled with memorization, which essentially cost them the game.

Ricky and Cesar are the first to arrive at the final roadblock, where Cesar must replenish the first official American flag, building on their lead. He finishes before Rod and Leticia even arrive. Leticia struggles to put the flag together, allowing Juan and Shane to catch up and pass Rod and Leticia.

The final challenge is to piece together a huge Liberty Bell puzzle. Ricky and Cesar finish this before the other teams even appear. It was a resounding victory and Ricky and Cesar took home the prize.
