Sex offender gets life sentence in case of child rape

Sept. 26—An Ector County jury found a 40-year-old man guilty Thursday of raping a 12-year-old girl and sentenced him to life in prison.

Richard Lee Davis was charged in December 2021 with aggravated sexual assault of a child in connection with incidents in October 2019, according to court records.

In August 2007, Davis, who has an extensive criminal history, was sentenced to a 10-year deferred sentence in another case of aggravated sexual assault of a child in Coryell, Texas. He was later found guilty and sentenced to five years in prison. He was also arrested multiple times for failing to register as a sex offender.

The state was represented by Steven Lively and Bill Prasher. Judge John Shrode of the 358th District Court presided. Davis’ attorneys were Johanna Curry and Rudolf Moisiuc.
