Pedestrian hit and killed in Ironton, Ohio

LAWRENCE COUNTY, OH (WOWK) – A man has died after being hit by a car in Lawrence County, Ohio.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the incident occurred on Wednesday, July 3, around 11:15 p.m. Police said the person, identified as Tamia S. Prater, 24, of Ironton, was walking in the eastbound lanes of U.S. 52 when she was struck by an SUV traveling east on Route 52.

According to OSHP, Prater’s death was pronounced at the scene by the Lawrence County Coroner. Police believe the driver was not impaired at the time of the crash.

The investigation is ongoing. The Ironton Fire Department and Lawrence County Coroner’s Office assisted OSHP on scene.
