Sabers select Konsta Helenius in first round of NHL draft

The Buffalo Sabres selected center Konsta Helenius in the first round of the 2024 NHL Draft on Friday night.

The Finnish forward has played in SM-liiga for the past two seasons.

He scored 36 points in 51 games last year with Jukurit Mikkeli.

The 18-year-old is 5’11” and weighs 180 pounds.

Rounds 2 to 7 of the repechage will take place Saturday at 11:30 a.m.
